About Live Index Options
Every strike of the nearest NIFTY and SENSEX expiry, charted from the exchange feed tick by tick rather than sampled. Each strike gets its own one-minute candles, its own support and resistance levels, and its own open-interest flow — a strike is an instrument in its own right, and the levels that matter to it are not the index's levels divided by something.
Alongside the charts sit move scores: for a given index move over a given horizon, each contract is repriced at its own implied volatility to estimate what it would be worth. The strike that gains most is rarely the obvious one, because the cheapest option is also the one with the least delta to gain from.
How to use this page
- Pick the index at the top. Only one is recorded per day — SENSEX around its Thursday expiry, NIFTY on the other weekdays — so seeing a single name is expected, not a fault.
- Choose two call strikes and two put strikes near the money. The panel shows them side by side so you can see which side is actually being paid for.
- Read the support and resistance lines on the premium chart, not the index chart. They are built from that contract's own swing clusters.
- Use the move score to choose between strikes once you already have a directional view. It answers 'which contract expresses this best', not 'which way is it going'.
Common questions
- Which option strike gains the most from an index move?
- Rarely the cheapest one. Each contract is repriced at its own implied volatility for a given index move and horizon, and the strike with the best ratio of gain to premium is usually one or two strikes out of the money, not far out of the money.
- Why does the page show only NIFTY or only SENSEX on a given day?
- The tick recorder follows the expiry calendar rather than running both indices at once, so each session is captured at full depth for the contracts that matter that day: SENSEX on Wednesday and Thursday around its Thursday expiry, NIFTY on the other weekdays.
- How often does the options page update?
- Charts update tick by tick over a live connection during market hours. Outside market hours the page shows the last completed session and says so.
